Take me home, down Claylick Rd.

Day 271, 5/29/15

Rode to work and back.  Taking off to work my first weekended at the new gig.

Day 272

I counted on there being a bike around the campus knowing full well Kevin wouldn't let me mount his prized Cannondale in the past.  What I found was a too small MTB (maybe a Trek) with half flat tires setting in front of the office.  The low air pressure and small frame made for VERY easy handling around Adirondack chairs, loose sports balls, and other obstacles residing on the porch.
Working out our core.... core values!

Day 273

After returning home I rode to O'Malia's to pick up a chips and salsa dinner.

Memorial Day

Day 267, 5/25/15, Memorial Day

After driving back from Louisville I took an evening ride around Cultural Trail.

Day 268

Rode to work and O' Malias to return a couple flicks.
Mortdecai (1 mustache)
The Gambler (don't bet on it)

Day 269

Rode to work and City Market.  Played some softball out west later.

Day 270

Got distracted on the way to work and ended up circling downtown.  Stopped at Henry's for a bite but settled for a mediocre coffee given their abysmal weekday offerings.  That place has been slopping off.

They Say It's Your Birthday!

Day 263, 5/21/15

Rode to work.  Heading to Fountain Square tonight for some music but there was none!  Third Thursday my ass.

Day 264

Rode to O'Malias and the Library to return movies before work.  Kurt and Natalie were off which made for a QUIET day at work.

Day 265

Rode to River's bday party with Paul!  River broke the present I got him which was kind of a jerk move, but I can be the bigger man.

Into the Woods

Day 260, 5/18/15

Rode to work then took a jog and ran stairs with Courtney at the Veteran's War Memorial.  After grabbing pizza, beer, and Adam Sandler's "The Cobbler" (I give it 3 shoes), I took a night ride up to 16th St. and then to the East Washington Walgreens.  I was seeking an outdoor Redbox unit to return the mediocre movie without locking up Ichiro.

Day 261

Rode to work and left early to get down for an interview at Rancho.  Stopped by Big Woods and got Natalie some beer... but I opened it for a cold Busted Knuckle before riding down to watch the Indian's game from the Harrison suite after.  It's nice to be schmoozed!

Day 262

Rode to work and SK after to get Liz some Osiris.  She landed around 8:30 and we enjoyed some La Revelucion.

Macker

Day 258, 5/16/15

Macker Day 1.

The Traffic:
Heading to the Macker from our hotel we got a little backed up on a rainy I-64.  A cattle truck tipped over spilling its 96 cows onto the freeway!  Unfortunately 60 of the cows died, 3 of which were put down on the scene.  The highway was closed for 13 hours Saturday as crews worked to corral the remaining cows.  West Virginia mountains, momma!
 Photos from wowktv.com

The Games:
We got destroyed in our first two games.  Playing in the post looked more like a boxing match than basketball.  We will refocus for the Toilet Bowl tomorrow.

The Ride:
Immediately upon getting to the Macker I saw a small antique shop with a child's bike out front.  I walked down there and feigned interest in the bike in order to pedal it for a short stint.  The tires were flat and the bike was tiny, but it counts as a ride!

The Food:
Enjoyed a fantastic Italian restaurant in Huntington WV, La Famiglia.  This is an Ironton Macker tradition and rightfully so.  The pizza was amazing!

The Night Life:
Stopped by Marshall's campus and poked around the stadium until we found an open gate.  Pat and Chris met me on the turf and threw around the ball Pat keeps handy in the trunk.  Chris was a PPK winner in Kansas and was throwing me 50 yard bombs as I blew by Pat!

Day 259

Macker Day 2.

We won game one and finally felt comfortable on the court.  The following game was tough and close but we did not end up on top.  Great time with friends old and new!
Back from left: Jeff, me, Chris, Kyle.  Front from left: Pat, Mike, Steve, Bradley
After returning home I rode around cultural trail and cut through on New York.  Paced a quick-to-accelerate hoopty all the way down New York until they realized that no matter how fast they took off, I would catch them at the next light.

Great American Road Trips

256, 5/14/15

Biked to work and looped around Cultural Trail after.  Stopped at O'malia's for provisions and hit the road with  Pat and to Cincinnati where we watched the Reds eek one out against the Giants.

Byrd's game winning HR landed no more than 6 rows in front of us!

Day 257

Rode to work and SK after.  Hitting the road with Pat again tonight for the Ironton Macker!

Tubes and London

Day 253, 5/11/15

Drove to work in order to make it up for a 4pm Orienteering course at REI.  Headed straight down to Pat's for basketball and then watched the Red's lose in the 9th.

Got home just after midnight and logged the day's ride.

Finally got the front tube replaced on Ichiro.  Do NOT purchase discounted tubes online, they inflate unevenly and translate to a choppy ride.  This also causes them to burst easier.

The Continental tubes are shit.

Day 254

Rode to work an stopped by SK on way home.  Paul biked down from Broadripple and we headed to Fountain Square.  Chips and guac at Revelucion, Dapper and Great Lake Swimmers at HiFi.

Day 255

Biked to work.  Read a great article about London's floating bike path down the River Thames!

Exploration

Day 251, 5/9/15

Left Paul's party shortly before 1am.  Got a flat and relied on the good nature of others to put me up for the night.  Caught a bus in the AM before joining the Mundell crew at Discover Irvington.

Highlights include Playground Productions and Coal Yard Coffee (pictured below by Lyndsey Mundell).

Andy besting me at moving the impaled, handless footballers.

Day 252

Home for Mother's Day where we swam, ate, and drank.  G just got back from New Orleans and had a mediocre time (I will have to take her and show her what's up).  She snapped this picture outside a French Quarter bar unsure if it was an art installment or creative bike storage.  You be the judge.

Got back to Indy in time for a short ride before the wind really picked up.  Calling for a wet week.

Warm Weather and Regards

Day 248, 5/6/15

Started the day off with a ride to opening day of the summer farmer's market.  After work headed south for bball practice with guys.

Cyclists crossing paths.  The renter (left) and the urbanist (right)

Day 249

Rode to work.  Didn't get out in time to help with the Freewheelin ride, but did score a free beer at Tomlinson.  Thanks stranger.

Day 250

Chocolate Cafe preparing for a round of *Scatterf#ck
Rode to post office to mail back the seersucker suit I ordered.  Apparently it was cut for Popeye's Olive Oil.  Stopped at the Circle for breakfast.

Biked to White Pine for Paul's birthday party.  Aside from Paul and River, my guac was the hit of the party!

*Scatterf#ck is one in a long line games made up by the Schaab cousins.  Specifically Matt and I developed this while living in Beacon Hill, Muncie, IN.

Emacher Collection

Day 246, 5/4/15

Rode to work.  Basketball after.

Day 247

Nice ass day! (heard people complaining that it was too hot and mentally punched them)

Rode to work.  Drove up to REI for camp cooking class.  After stopped at AMC to use the bathroom and ended up sneaking into The Avengers and having a popcorn dinner.

VINATAGE BIKE AUCTION! The entire Emacher collection is available for viewing and auction in Vienna.  Online and phone in bids are being taken as well.  What a great way to celebrate bike month!

REV

Day 243, 5/1/15

Rode to work and stopped at SK before driving to FW for J's first bar mitzfa.  Got a Cream Ale for mom to try but she didn't.... stuck to wine.

Day 244

Full day starting with a swim, J's party, and then driving straight to the race track for REV.

Met several chefs of local and national fame, toured the pagoda, and danced my bum off.  Perhaps most notably I said hello to Andrew Luck.

Cerulean had an awesome Dutch cargo bike modded with three 1/2 kegs and taps.  I assumed I could find a photo of it online but couldn't.   One of my students sent me this upon my request.

I got pulled over upon leaving the event.  The cops said I had a headlight out.  They made me get out of the car, ran my plates and then let me go.  Bizarre because when I got home ALL head and tail lights were operable.  #profiling

Day 245

Rode out to the speedway for the official opening.  Then around town to meet Kristen for a beer and orchestral music at the Rite.  It was a patriotic themed concert.  A sub-theme must have been a lack of intonation.

Sadly bailed on the full moon ride.

Untitled Post

Day 238, 4/26/15

Beautiful day!  Took a late night ride.

Day 239

Walked to work because of the gear that needed carried.  Rode back in after lunch, then off to dentist for a check-up.  Played ball after.

Day 240

Rode to work and SK afterwards.

Day 241

Rode to work.  Scheduled for a pedi-cab shift tonight but I'm leaning towards forfeiting the meek hourly average of a weekday Indian's game.

Stumbled upon Adrienne Nicholls' instagram.  Sexy, creative, cyclist. Amore!

Day 242

Got a car ride to work and went for a run with Court immediately after.  Then headed to the south side for some basketball, Reds, Draft, and Monopoly Deal.  Made it back for a BRIEF ride but it was JUST after midnight.
