Macker

Day 258, 5/16/15

Macker Day 1.

The Traffic:
Heading to the Macker from our hotel we got a little backed up on a rainy I-64.  A cattle truck tipped over spilling its 96 cows onto the freeway!  Unfortunately 60 of the cows died, 3 of which were put down on the scene.  The highway was closed for 13 hours Saturday as crews worked to corral the remaining cows.  West Virginia mountains, momma!

The Games:
We got destroyed in our first two games.  Playing in the post looked more like a boxing match than basketball.  We will refocus for the Toilet Bowl tomorrow.

The Ride:
Immediately upon getting to the Macker I saw a small antique shop with a child's bike out front.  I walked down there and feigned interest in the bike in order to pedal it for a short stint.  The tires were flat and the bike was tiny, but it counts as a ride!

The Food:
Enjoyed a fantastic Italian restaurant in Huntington WV, La Famiglia.  This is an Ironton Macker tradition and rightfully so.  The pizza was amazing!

The Night Life:
Stopped by Marshall's campus and poked around the stadium until we found an open gate.  Pat and Chris met me on the turf and threw around the ball Pat keeps handy in the trunk.  Chris was a PPK winner in Kansas and was throwing me 50 yard bombs as I blew by Pat!

Day 259

Macker Day 2.

We won game one and finally felt comfortable on the court.  The following game was tough and close but we did not end up on top.  Great time with friends old and new!

After returning home I rode around cultural trail and cut through on New York.  Paced a quick-to-accelerate hoopty all the way down New York until they realized that no matter how fast they took off, I would catch them at the next light.
