Day 212, 3/31/15
Today I rode the Pinellas Tr. from Dunedin to St. Pete Beach.
|
Dunedin trail head. Lots of |
The trail is a former railroad route and is fantastically user friendly. Most of the trail features 3 lanes: bikes in either direction and a third pedestrian lane. There were also frequent 4 way stops and the occasional "Trail users don't stop" signs where they stop the street instead of the trail traffic.
|
Didn't supersede this limit too often. |
|
Unceremonious cat walks were great for crossing busy streets, but the steep angles were rough on the legs after a while. |

Day 213 APRIL FOOLS
Took the Pinellas Trail north to complete it. It turned into suburbia fairly quickly and I bailed on completing the north end to check out nearby Honeymoon Island.
|
The trail became flanked on either side by the road. Neat! |
Honeymoon Island has a beautiful State Park, but I didn't pony up for admission as I was late for a Braves game in Clearwater.
|
Phillies' training camp in Clearwater. |
After the game I attempted to go island hopping, but the timing made for much outgoing traffic. I bailed on the plan and rode around beachside for some time trying to remember where I parked... it was about 30 miles later when I finally found the car.

Day 214
Last nigh's ride didn't end until after midnight. Felt ok about spending the day at the beach. Watched sunset and a wedding.
|
Liz eating her hotdog, NOT protecting my food from seagulls. |
Day 215
Rode from Liz's north suburban mansion through the more derelict portions of Tampa until landing in Ybor City. This beautiful, historic, and cultural spot was worth the sketchy ride down.
Saw George Steinbrenner Field, but not willing to pay $35 for a ST game. Especially not for those money hungry Yankee punks.
